Art in Lab is a laboratory providing technical and scientific analyzes
dedicated to the study of art and archaeology.

For over ten years we have been working with public institutions, art market
professionals and individuals. Selected by "La Biennale Paris"from 2016 to the last edition, our
laboratory assists the experts during admission commissions of artworks. We also
intervened on major restoration projects for public institution such as Paris cultural services.
Artists' committees and experts use our exams in their assignments, and prestigious
auction houses have entrusted us with their works. For us all objects are interesting and deserve
our attention, we are always available to receive enthusiasts and collectors.

The laboratory offers physicochemical analyzes and scientific images adapted to all types
of works of art: painting, sculpture, furniture, graphic art, ceramics, glass, metals
and stones. Located in Paris, we can receive art objects in our premises, but
we are also equipped with mobile instruments suitable for on-site mission.

Ilenia Cassan et Estelle Itié, founders

Our training in art history in France and Italy allows us to have a great knowledge of works of art and their context of creation, which is essential to offer exams adapted to your questions. We both worked at the "Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF)" where we gained experience and where we familiarized ourselves with the different types of exams.

Estelle Itié

Trained in Paris at "la Sorbonne" (Paris I) and at the "École du Louvre"

During my studies in art history, I became interested in the materiality of the artworks. I then specialized in the study of Scientific Imaging. In the infrared and the study of the underdrawings during my studies, then in my professional career in other imaging techniques. My strong point is to be able to accompany you in the interpretation of documents sometimes difficult to apprehend in order to extract information useful to their understanding.

Ilenia Cassan

Trained in Italy Università degli studi di Udine, Conservazione dei Beni Culturali and at the "École du Louvre" in Paris

Very early in my university course I specialized in the study of the materiality of art objects, my training was focused on the chemistry of heritage related to restorative issues. Passionate about this subject, I followed a training of restorer in painting which allowed me to have a new approach of the artistic techniques that I can every day valorize by studying the objects which are entrusted to us.
